What is the Canadian Bar Association?
The Canadian Bar Association (“CBA”) champions Canada’s legal profession and the rule of law in Canada.
The CBA is the largest association for legal professionals in Canada, representing over 40,000 legal professionals across the nation, including:
- Lawyers and Notaries
- Judges and Academics
- Law Students
The CBA advocates for law reform, advances equity within the profession, and provides national platforms for legal expertise. The CBA has been championing Canadian lawyers and Canadian law since 1896.
What is the CBA International Section?
The CBA International Section addresses complex global legal frameworks, including:
- Public & Private International Law
- International Treaties and Conventions
- Global Economic Law & International Trade Agreements
- Conflict of Laws and its interaction with domestic Canadian law
In this role, Leila will work with the Executive Committee and other International Section members to help shape law reform initiatives, policy advocacy, and professional engagement within public and private international law.
